World Kindness Day

Yesterday was World Kindness Day - a day focused for people to be kinder to everyone around them and make the world a better place. Kindness.org partnered with Oxford University to prove that acts of kindness can actually have a positive effect on your overall well-being in addition to those you help. Through their data survey, 691 people participated in performing one act of kindness a day for one week. The data collected proved that doing these acts gives people motivation and happiness. Yesterday, Kindness.org put up three "kindness walls" in Times Square, London and Cape Town. These walls were big murals were people could write a message of kindness acts or inspiration. Not only that, but the goal of these murals was to put in effects acts of kindness throughout the world especially in the digital space.

The ad targets everyone. Kindness is a value that many people often forget when going about their day. Kindess.org really emphasizes that there are different characters and faces to kindness but it isn't affected by your gender, race, or religion. I think it is a great mission to have when thinking about how to go about the topic.

I think this topic is great because it aligns with our M4G project about Mental Health. It shows how simple things like murals can affect a change in a larger community and spur a conversation. I love the bright colors and the imagery used in the campaign. I think they also really utilized a day that symbolized a lot for the company to release their murals.

The objective of the campaign was definetly to get more traction and conversation about leaving a kinder legacy. I think that in my own personal life, I am sometimes quick to judge people and often forget how small acts of kindness can make someones day. I love the mission behind the company and hope to see more activations maybe even in LA!
